Shōgun: Limited Series | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Daniel Fienberg Hollywood Reporter Shogun had “prestige” written all over it. Yet the care taken by creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo to deliver this story without having it reek of appropriation and voyeurism was evident throughout. Jun 6, 2024 Full Review Shōgun: Limited Series | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) Shōgun hasn’t been perfect. When it was slow, it was practically stationary. But the moving finale more than paid off all the time and patience demanded of its audience. Rated: 4/5 Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Shōgun: Limited Series | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Phillip Maciak The New Republic One of the main features of this show—and the source of its most important narrative innovation—is how rigorously rule-bound its characters are. Apr 17, 2024 Full Review Shōgun: Limited Series | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Abe Friedtanzer Cinema Daily US In a world this massive, there’s much to find fascinating, and audiences are sure to connect with many facets of its multidimensional historical saga. Rated: B+ Jul 27, 2024 Full Review Shōgun: Limited Series | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Jared Mobarak Hey, Have You Seen ...? The meaning behind each [death] is only augmented by the three-dimensional performances delivered by a cast that knows they might be next. Nobody can afford to mail it in. Rated: 9/10 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Shōgun: Limited Series | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Nelson Acosta Koimoi The show manages to translate the classic novel excellently and concretely without ever losing the political and cultural complexities that make the story such a classic. Gareth v One of 2024's best shows. A beautifully shot show, that is backed up by some fantastic performances from it's cast, as well as a screenplay that is intense and full of surprises. If you're after something light and breezy, this isn't for you, but it you enjoy drama's that are layered and intense, you'll love this. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Adrian D Superbly made, and though I appreciated the original version in its time, this one does a better job with the story. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Regina P I ended up enjoying this, but it took such a long time for me to get through the season. It was too much to digest. I started watching it on one platform and had to finish it on a different platform. That's how long I took to finish it. But I ended up being fully invested in the outcome by the time I got to the last few episodes. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Daniela R A refreshing and exciting book adaptation Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Ryan W It's well made, Hiroyuki Sanada is excellent, but it feels unnecessary. James Clavell's story has been adapted many times before, do we really need another one? There are other stories about Japan, you know. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review ana e I expected better. The acting isn't good. The plot isn't there. The action scenes are cringeworthy. Visually, its pretty. I can't understand why Shogun has such high ratings. A series needs more than costumes and scenery. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Read all reviews
